Week 7 Online Journal

We are ? way through the semester!!! I am so glad. This week, I set out to finish all of my assignments, and I accomplished my goal for once! I am relieved about that. I wanted to finish everything that I could before Thursday because I was going home. I did everything except for the peer reviews for Julie and Tiffany. I finished those when I got home today. It feels excellent to have everything finished for once. I hope I can keep this up.
This week I did two of my genres. I did the poem and my journal. They weren’t as hard as I thought they were going to be. Once I started them, they were not so bad. I also had about the 3 “R”s of Inquiry. I wrote a prompt about Research, Reading, and wRiting. On Tuesday, I wrote about my professional emailing list. I told how one can subscribe to it and what it is basically about. Lastly, I responded to my peer group. I had to evaluate their genres and webliography. I enjoyed reading their genres, but I do not like evaluating them. I am always afraid someone is going to get offended by what I say to them. I am not very good at criticizing people. I like writing good stuff, but not bad stuff. So if I offended anyone, I am sorry. I had to do it!!!
In order to finish my work this week, I set some time aside on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and worked on my assignments. I knew that I had to get them finished, so I did. I separated myself from everyone else, and I worked on my assignments. I did not get to go over to the computer lab as much as usual this week (so Julie and Cindy, I missed you all).
As a result of finishing all of my work (as you can see I am proud of myself), I realize that I can accomplish something if I put my mind to it. I feel a lot better about this class and all of my other classes. I know that I am capable of doing the work that is expected of me as long as I discipline myself to do it.
As for questions, I don’t have any because I am finished with my assignments.

Week 6 Online Journal

6 weeks down, 10 more to go! Well, this week I set out to finish the rest of week 5 assignments, and I did. I wanted to finish them because I had to or else I would not get any points for the class. I finished one of the assignments for week 6. I plan to finish the rest of them by Tuesday. I hope to finish week 6 and week 7 assignments by Friday because I am going home this weekend, and I would like to have a stress-free weekend (if that is possible). My sister-in-law is having her baby shower and so I want to enjoy myself (by the way, I am really excited about the baby—I’m going to be an aunt!!! J ). If I do not get to finish the week 7 assignments, that will not be so bad because I will have next week to work on it. I haven’t seen how much I have to do yet.
The content that I addressed this week mainly dealt with my research. I found many sites related to my project. The more I find, the more that I find this topic so interesting. I was reading my e-mails the other day, and I guy e-mailed me from my list telling me about his 4 ? year old son (I finally introduced myself to my e-mailing list this week). Everything was so interesting that he told me. His son cannot produce any novel utterances. Everything that he says has been repeated. He said he has been seen by specialists, and they said he is not autistic. They do not know what is wrong with him. They have not come up with a diagnosis for him yet. The guy said that his son will ask for pizza, but he says, “Would you like me to make you a pizza?” He says what his parents say to him when he wants pizza. I thought that was interesting.
To finish my work this week, I went up to the computer lab, as usual, with my 315 buddies, Julie and Cindy. We work on our assignments in between our classes. It is very helpful. If I have a question, I know that they can help me and vice versa. It was hard for Cindy to finish her assignments this week because she had about 100 e-mails for her list welcoming her. One person even offered her a job!
Over the course of this week, I have realized that I can handle this semester. I made an A on my Spanish test. I have finally accepted that I need to take time with my 315 work. I know that I just need to work on it when I can, and when I have other work that needs to be done, then I need to worry about it.
My only question that I have is for me. I do not know what genres I am going to work on for this week. Do I want to write my poem? Do I want to write my interview? Stay tuned to my next journal entry, and I will tell you which ones I came up with.

Week 5 Online Journal

Week 5 is officially over, and I am glad! This week was a very stressful week for me. I am hoping that week 6 will be better. For this class, I set out to finish week 4 and week 5 assignments. I have yet to do either one. I still have one assignment in each to complete. I plan on doing them after I finish my journal. I would like to finish them before tomorrow because I have other homework that I need to do (Spanish—YAK!). I would also like to finish them so that when week 6 assignments are posted, I won’t have to worry about previous work.
The content addressed this week mainly pertained to our Multigenre Research Project (MRP). I evaluated resources using different evaluation formats. I reflected on my evaluations. I also read the instructions for the MRP. I still have to do my Project Prospectus and my library search. I also plan on updating my webliography.
The processes that I utilized in completing my work this week involved much motivation. As always, Julie and I went to the computer labs in Smith Hall in between our classes. We had a new buddy with us this week to work with. Cindy came along with us, which was lots of fun. It helps a lot to have people to work with. If I have a question or if they have a question, we can TRY to help each other. I emphasize try because none of us really know what is going on.
This week I learned new ways to evaluate web sources, which will help me when searching sources for my MRP. I also learned that I need to consider these evaluations when forming my own website because others are going to be viewing my page for information. I will try to be as reliable and credible as possible. I want people to enjoy my website and know that I worked hard on it.
I don’t really have any questions at the moment. I am sure I probably will as I progress in my work, but as for now I am question free.
